Nutritionist: Step 1 to our 21 Day Cleanse

So my 21 day cleanse starts on March 1st.  I am really excited, but also dreading it (you know the coffee thing).  I hope you will come along with me so we can support each other.  Let me start by telling you what my personal goals and measurements are.  You can make modifications wherever you feel neccesarry.  I already practice a pretty healthy lifestyle, so don't be discouraged if you have to take a more gentle route to fitness.  What matters is that you feel good about what you are doing, and improving.    I also have another site for personal training if you are interested in guidance for the fitness aspect to your regimine.  We will look at that later.

First lets start by calculating your BMR which is how many calories your body needs to function at the most basic level.

BMR:

Women - 655 + (4.35 X weight in pounds) + (4.7 X 64) - (4.7 X age in years)

Men - 66 + (6.23 X weight in pounds) + (1.27 X height in inches) - (6.8 X age in years)

Next lets calculate your fat %:  Fat calculator

So this is Me now:  I am 5"4 and weigh 133 pounds.   My body fat is 23%.  My BMR is 1,250 calories per day.

My Goal: 122 pounds and 18% body fat.  I will eat 1250 calories per day and burn 1100 until I lose the weight I want to be rid of.

Tip: I like to weigh my self each day to see my progress.  Be sure to weigh yourself the same time each day since weight can fluctuate.

Another good way to measure progress is to use a measurement tape.  Measure your self at your bicep, knee, calve, stomach (navel), waist (smallest part), hips (widest), bust and thigh.  When measuring make sure the tape is not cutting into your body.  Accurate measuring will be the best to see the progress you are truly making.  So for today......start by getting your weight, your BMR, your body fat, and begin setting your goals.

Note:  Body fat recommendations are:

Men:  Fit = 14-17%    Athlete = 10-13%

Women:  Fit = 21-24% Athlete = 16-20%

Lets start the cleanse by setting some realistic goals.  Write them down.  Cut out a picture that you can look at that may inspire you.  Envision what you would like to look like.  (be realistic though.)  Good luck on this first step.
